Money.

How many religious groups had annual incomes of over $10 million each?

There were seven religious groups that had annual incomes of over $10 million each, namely National Kidney Foundation and Ren Ci Hospital and Medicare Centre.

Is it justifiable for religious groups to pay their staff high salaries? What are your views?

I think it is only justifiable if the person who earns a high salaries really do work very hard for the charity organization. If the person is nothing but a figurehead, there is not a need to pay a high salary. The pay should be equal to the amount of work done by the person.

And although the higher your position in the company or organization, if the workload is reduced drastically, a higher salary is just a waste of money. The money can be used to better the facilities or help more people that are in need.

Moms in need.

What project was launched to help single mums? Briefly explain what is this project about?

The project is called WeCare for U. And the U is formed the logo for NTUC, meaning that this project is created by National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). This project is to help every single mother, be it divorced or widowed to have a say and assists them in their work life and family life.

Imagine you come across a single mum who is unemployed, what are some advice you can give her? Who can she turn to?

She can turn to this project of course. She can also take up and learn new skills like computing for cooking etc, to keep herself more relevant to society and hence make it easier for her to find a job. They can also turn to relatives and friends for help and probably create job businesses together.

NTU DEATH FALL

What were some indications which showed that the victim was facing problems before he committed the rash act?

He was behaving very strangely. He would also use and play computer games non-stop for several hours even though there are exams or projects that he needs to study or work on.

Is it very stressful being a student in Singapore? Explain.

It is very stressful being a student in Singapore. We are living in a cosmopolitan city so, there will be ongoing competition not only within our own country but also with the world in order to stand out and be recognised. And in this world, a diploma or degree counts. People without degree(s) or diploma may find it hard to find a job or to get promoted in a company. It is a constant competition for good grades and high achievements.

What are some problems you face as a student which adds to your stress level?

Learning new topics will always be a constant struggle for me and everyone. The new information is alien and needs time to digest and memorise therefore it is hard when new topics are being taught in school. Scoring good results also adds to the stress level, as you constantly have to meet up with your parents, teachers and even your own expectations.

Tattoo-ism

TATTOO-ISM

What are some reasons stated in the article why some people choose to have body art like tattoos or piercings done on parts of their body.

They want to be different from the other ordinary people and want to stand out in the crowd. They do it to stay in their clique as the rest may have done modifications to their bodies as well. They may also want to experience how it feels like to have some different in their lives.

What are some impressions you would form of a person whose body is covered with tattoo?

I would not judge them too much on their tattoos on their body. You can't judge a person by its looks. A person may want the tattoo just for decorative purposes. Although the initial impression of them would be of a gangster, but it’s hard to deduce how them person is like until you know them.

Would you consider getting a tattoo in future? Why?

I may want a tattoo in the future as a kind of decorative artwork. When life gets too boring, you need something thrilling and different. I would definitely not tattoo my whole body but just a small piece here and there.

Sex among the young girls.

YOUNG GIRLS AND SEX

State any two reasons mentioned in the article which contributes to the sharp rise in girls under 16 having sex.

They think that it is the "in" thing to do is to have sex with their boyfriends. And also, they feel that having sex with their boyfriend will make the guy stay faithful to them. They may also be influenced to do it as their female peers have done it and still want to be as "cool" as them.

What are some consequences which a girl might face for engaging in casual sex?

They have the increased chance of contracting Sexually Transmitted Infections(STI) such as Chlamydia will lead to even serious consequences. Unwanted pregnancy will also occur if a preventive measure such as using a condom is not used.

What are some of your reactions after reading this article? If one day, a close friend of yours confess to you that he/she has been engaging in sex, what would your advice to him/her be?

I would ask him/her why are they doing this. Is it worth it to lose your virginity to a guy/girl who you may probably break up with soon? Maybe all they want from your relationship is just sexual benefits, and why should anyone give in to that kind of request. Its purely selfish on the person wanting sex. The consequences of having sex is greater than the supposedly benefits you may get out of your relationship. It is not healthy and beneficial at all, so just stop doing it for their own sake.

TUITION CRAZY

To students, tuition was necessary for them as they were unable to catch up and cope with the ever-hectic school syllabus. They find it hard to fully comprehend the different solutions and concepts in school. Teachers in school may also rush the syllabus, making it even harder for the weaker students to understand the topic completely. Therefore, a tuition teacher could slowly go through each concept and solution step by step till the student themselves fully comprehend it.

I think whether a person needs tuition or not depends on the circumstances. Personally, I do try to listen as much as I can in class and try not to fall asleep. I make sure I fully grasp that certain topic well before going on to the next. Tuition to me is just a person with a certain level of experience in that subject, just repeating whatever was taught in class and patiently goes through every little detail with you till you fully get it. So, there is probably not much of a need to spent so much money on it.
